Am I a New Yorker?

Back to New York after a long break in my sweet Minnesota. The bright lights, the shiny signs, the advertisements, it's Times Square baby! And it scares the heck outta me. Why so many lights? It's like day time at midnight. And why are the signs so big? They're just too big. Time square is scary for a small town Minnesota gal!

But, for some reason, it also feels normal to me now. I flew into New York the day after New Years. I didn't get that excited "I'm in New York!" feeling I've always had on my trips to NYC. I just had that "I can't wait to sleep in my own bed!" feeling. I guess that means I'm just your average New Yorker now. How weird is that?

Although, give me a cup of joe on the lake surrounded by trees and chirping birds and I'll have all the excitement I'll ever need. It's good to experience both, although I'll always prefer the latter.

P.S. I caught a mouse in my apartment. I think that definitely makes me a New Yorker. I miss you Minnesota!
