Long Beach Island

During my last week of freedom, before the craziness of my final year of grad school ensued, Brennan and I took an adventure to Long Beach Island on the Jersey Shore. Brennan used to vacation on LBI as a wee little lad with his Dad, so we decided to reminisce, get all nostalgic, and make new memories. I must say, it was my favorite day of summer.

It all began when Brennan drove up to my door in this...

That's right folks. A red, mini-cooper convertible. We travel in style. It was awesome! And we did remember to put sunscreen on our heads. I must buy one of these someday.

Of course we had to stop at a local donut shop on the way. This one was called "Shore Good." And it shore was! :) It's my blog and I can say what I want. They make the donuts fresh and on the spot! You get to watch them frost it just the way you want it. It was delicious. I can still taste that warm, decadent donut smothered and oozing in maple frosting.

Once we got to the island we stopped at the Silver Sun. The old mall/tourist shop where Brennan and his Dad would stock up on LBI t-shirts and other memorabilia. So of course we had to get our souvenirs as well. And $3.99 sunglasses.

Me in front of mini-coop. A good day is a day when I get to wear my beach hat.

B in front of mini-coop. Sporting all LBI apparel (including hat). Channeling his inner suburban dad.

Beach, yes.

Yes, beach.

Beach life suits me.

After we rode the waves and soaked up the sun we went to Fantasy Island, the little amusement park Brennan used to go to as a kid. We may have been the oldest ones there without children, but that's ok.

We spent our first ten tokens on the ferris wheel. We were the only ones on it. It was quite dreamy.

You could see the beachy heaven for miles. It was gorgeous.

He's handsome.

We then realized we were too big for all the other rides, so we spent our last ten tokens on the ferris wheel again. Why not.

Round two. Still handsome.

We didn't ride this for fear of getting ill, but it was pretty to look at.

After the adventures of Fantasy Island, we had an amazing seafood dinner overlooking the water and watching the sunset.

Who wears their sweater like that?

Beautiful!

I love seafood, I love sunsets, I love the beach, I am one happy girl.

And right as the sun went down, Black Pearl came in to the harbor. Perfection.

Oh LBI! Thank you for a day of worry free bliss. We miss you.
